Kanye does it again

As cocky as he is, I have to give credit where credit is due. He's ahead of the game and just when you thought you knew what was coming next he throws a curve ball. I love this video and while it may give you the same side effects as being on a roller coaster or a fun house the end result is mind blowing. Kanye is here to stay, he may even be the next Prince*.

Oh the 90s was too good to me.

*Prince is not happy with this news.

Fiercest Baby Alive

We still don't have a name, but thanks to Afrikan Boy, we now have a picture of M.I.A.'s baby boy (born last Wednesday). I hope Afrikan Boy didn't get in trouble for presenting this super gorgeous bundle of joy to the world. I didn't know newborn babies were capable of having that much hair.

Dead and Gone

I don't take death well. I had a dream last week that I was filming a movie with Shia Labeouf and my fellow black hottie, Monica. I had a bad take and the director gave me a few minutes to collect my thoughts so I can do the scene again. Monica was trying to be supportive to shake off my nerves but as I looked away I saw Chris Simmonds, he was trying to talk to me to help me but all I could do was cry. I woke up crying.

I was not the nicest person to Chris. I was a stupid freshmen in high school and I thought I was better than him and I wasn't. He was better than me because he was always himself and all he wanted was people who accepted him and by the time I realized this it was too late to do anything about it. I always try to be a better person but now I owe it to him and to myself.

Last winter break I went to Ashley's house and reconnected with people I haven't seen in a while and we all played Taboo and I had Jenny on my team and she was so radiant and had the most beautiful smile, I was so happy to have her on my team. I had so much fun that night and little did I know that I would never see Jenny again. I'm too young to be losing friends and it makes me realize how fragile life is and how we need to appreciate everyone around us.

T.I has a new video for his single Dead and Gone. It is dedicated to his assistant Philant Johnson who was killed in 2006 after an altercation at one of T.I's show which resulted in a shooting, three people were injured but Johnson was killed. The first thing T.I says in the video is "What matters more than the mistakes you make is what you're able to learn from them." Trust me I've learned.

Jimmy Brooks is growing up

I've been watching Degrassi for a good five years. Jimmy Brooks has always been one of my favorite characters. I'm not sure if Mr. Aubrey "Drake" Graham has left Degrassi and acting for good, but it seems like he's really focusing exclusively on his hip hop/r&b. Yeah, he's been out doing the music thing for a couple years now, but I've always felt his shit was mostly only popular with Degrassi fans and adolescent girls who probably listen to way too much Bobby Valentino. Lately though he's been getting more and more play. When the jock I went to high school with is leaving numerous status updates saying Drake is making him feel "like his swag jus got turned up," you know he's getting big.

Recently he dropped his third mixtape So Far Gone.

It's definitely better than what I expected. It's very eclectic from singing over Peter Bjorn & John and my girl Lykke Li to cocky rhymes with Lil Wayne. Needless to say, it's hot. Good from start to finish.

Be sure to download the mixtape off Drake's official blog.

Songs of the Week: Lykke Li & Robin Thicke

Monica's Pick
I first saw Lykke Li at the 2008 mtvU Woodie Awards rapping to A Tribe Called Quest and I just had to find out about this girl. She's a cute little Swedish girl who makes bad ass pop music. And no, I have no idea how to pronounce her name.

Full song available here.

Alex's Pick
I didn't think Robin Thicke could get any sexier but he did. He cleaned up from his bike riding though New York days. The melody of this song is just sultry, inviting, leaving me wanting more and his voice accompanies this song so perfectly. I imagine being in the beautiful countryside in a big house with my beau and this song playing losing track of time being engulfed with each other. I suppose that's my dreamworld.

F*** My Life

Had a bad Valentine's Day? Just experienced the most embarrassing moment of your life? Head over to fmylife.com and share your sad, amusing pain. Join the painfully awkward ranks of:

Today, my girlfriend dumped me proclaiming she wanted someone more like her "Edward". I asked her who Edward was. She held up a copy her "Twilight" book. She was talking about a fictional vampire. FML
and

Today, I was eating ice cream and I noticed some on my jeans so I wiped it off with my finger and licked it. It was bird shit. FML

Sure, 60% of them are probably fake, but that doesn't make them any less funny. I'm thinking of sending one saying, "Today, while working at a liquor store, this goofy kid with glasses spilled a whole six pack of beer. When I asked if he did it, he said, "No. And you should really clean this up. Someone could really hurt themselves," and walked away. FML

See what I did there?

Chester French is my new love

We here at UBH are known for a few things: great taste in music, an infinite amount of pop culture knowledge, and beating off sketchy guys who follow us with a stick. Those guys are going to have to take a ticket and wait in line because this fellow black hottie's heart is taken by Chester French. Who is this great guy and why are you so jealous he caught this girl's eye?

Well, they're two Harvard grads who are going to take over the music world one song at a time. This band has made me really excited about music again. Everything was starting to sound repetitive and there was nothing out there that blew my mind until now. These guys are really passionate about their music and you can tell their songs are made with sweat, all nighters, and love. Their sound is so fresh and addicting that I've kicked my pill habit* but now I'm a Chester French fiend. I have to give a shout out to D.A who is a sweetheart and really takes time to talk to the fans and to me so D.A give this fellow hottie a call.

Make sure you pick up their album Love the Future when it comes out this spring. We all know I'll be in ecstasy when I get it. To get your quick fix check out She Loves Everybody.

*I don't really have a pill problem.
